Following last year's hugely successful This Is Not A Safe Place album, Ride have released a reinterpretation of the album by Pêtr Aleksänder. (more…)
Two track single featuring remixes of tracks from RIDE's sixth album 'This Is Not A Safe Place. The remixes are by Gabe Gurnsey (Factory Floor) and Faders Down (Ride's own Loz Colbert). Tracks were released via the usual streaming and downloads sites only. No physical pressing available.
Second single from RIDE's sixth album 'This Is Not A Safe Place due for release on August 16th 2019. The press release states: "Ride are back with a brand new single, "Future Love", taken from their forthcoming new album, "This Is Not A Safe Place". " Andy Bell explains, ""Repetition" is at the absolute heart of This Is Not A Safe Place. It was one of the very first songs written for the album, and has always felt to me like one of the best songs I've written. It has a great dual harmony vocal from myself and Mark. Steve came up with the brilliant Juno 6 bassline that starts the song, which he overdubbed on our last day of recording for the album, Loz puts down a monster of a drum track, it's both very experimental and very pop in approach and that's what Ride always tried to do in the early days. For me it succeeds in bringing me back to all of the things we were into and talked about when we were 18, but also being of the moment, in 2019."
First single from RIDE's sixth album 'This Is Not A Safe Place due for release on August 16th 2019. The press release states: "Ride are back with a brand new single, "Future Love", taken from their forthcoming new album, "This Is Not A Safe Place". " "Following the success of "Weather Diaries" the band returned to the studio with producer Erol Alkan to make their sixth LP. The album was mixed by Alan Moulder with Caesar Edmunds at Assault & Battery in London. Of this new single Andy Bell said, "Future Love is a song about the beginning of a relationship, when everything feels possible."

Ride's sixth single of 2017 and their first new track since the release of 'Weather Diaries' in the summer. The track was released to coincide with the bands performance at Pitchfork Paris Festival. Speaking to Pitchfork Loz stated the track “reimagines old organ samples, transmissions from space, effects, heavy beats and pulsing chords.” He continued, “The song title tips its head to the ’60s instrumental ‘Telstar’ in name and theme; and the idea was to come up with some kind of ‘space anthem’ about light, existence, travel and return.” Buy or stream the track via this link.
Remix single of Cali taken from the Weather Diaries, the track was made available for download/streaming on August 22nd 2017.
Fifth single from Weather Diaries, Cali was made available for download/streaming on July 11th 2017. Official video Commentary video where the band discuss the song
Fifth album released on 16th June 2017. The press release states: "Ride's first album in over twenty years, Weather Diaries, will be released June 16th via Wichita Recordings. The album was produced by legendary DJ, producer and remixer Erol Alkan, and is packed with all the classic elements that made Ride one of the defining bands of the early ‘90s. Trembling distortion, beautiful harmonies, pounding rhythms, shimmering soundscapes and great songwriting all combine to make an album that’s ambitious in scope, timeless and thoroughly addictive. The album will be released through Wichita Recordings and sees the band reunited with label co-founders Mark Bowen and Dick Green, who worked with Ride during the band’s early years on Creation Records. It also brings the band back together with mixer Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers) who mixed their seminal 1990 album ‘Nowhere’ and produced it’s follow up ‘Going Blank Again’." First new song released since 1996. Press statement states: ""Charm Assault" is taken from Ride's forthcoming album, due to be released Summer 2017 on Wichita Recordings. The album was produced by Erol Alkan and mixed by the band's longtime collaborator, Alan Moulder. Andy Bell says “Charm Assault is a pretty straightforward expression of frustration and disgust at the people who currently run our country. The tour in 2015 was a good way of reminding us what we were good at in the first place and Charm Assault feels like a natural continuation from our peak. When we started writing together again we tried to imagine we'd kept on making music all this time, and this was just the latest one.” An alternative sleeve (see below) was added to download sites on 18th May 2017.

Soundcheck 1 Soundcheck 2 Performance CD single - no cat # design.tourist p + c 2002 Ride First new Ride material for 6 years Recorded 16/10/01 for the Channel 4 show 'Pioneers' (broadcast 5/12/01) 1000 copy only release, now sold out The band's 17/10/01 e-newsletter described the recording thus: "So yesterday at the John Henry rehearsal complex in North London, Andy, Mark, Steve and Loz all turned up, set-up, plugged-in and put together about an hour's worth of un-rehearsed sonic jamming to accompany the forthcoming series of Channel 4's Pioneers. The show is about the influence of Sonic Youth and is effectively "presented" by Andy and Mark. They talk about Sonic Youth's influence generally to 90's music and specifically the influence on the then-fledgling Ride. As part of the idea for the show, the producer had asked Mark and Andy to play 10-15 minutes of guitar-based feedback which they wanted to film and use as a backdrop to the programme. It was Andy's idea that if he and Mark were going to get together to talk about Sonic Youth's influence on Ride then any "performance" to accompany the programme should feature all 4 ex-Ride members. Mark flew in from France for the day, Andy delayed his return to Sweden after the Oasis tour for a day and both Loz and Steve managed to juggle their existing commitments to make way for the day's filming. Everyone arrived about 11 and everything was set-up and ready to roll about Midday. Once the TV people had sorted their sound and camera positions out, the band started to work on a loose jam that they'd put together on the spot. It was a simple recording - one stereo mic for the drums, one bass mic and one each for Andy's and Mark's guitars. No vocals. It was truly amazing how quickly the whole sound slotted into place, that old adage about riding a bicycle was never more appropriate. There was a break while the sound levels and the overall mix were checked: and also while the lighting team sorted out their part of the equation. After a spot of lunch the band started playing about 1:30 with the cameras and the tape rolling until it came to it's natural conclusion about 2:15. Mark and Andy then filmed the interview and they all packed up and went their separate ways - Mark and Andy off to Heathrow for their respective flights, Steve back to Oxford and Loz back across London. It was very strange to witnedd how natural the whole event was and also how enjoyable and inspirational it was too. They talked about whether to base the jam on perhaps Grasshopper or even the middle section of Drive Blind but in the end a completely new piece of music came out of the day. There will some snaps of the day and maybe some camcorder footage up on the Ride site in the next couple of weeks or so - don't touch that dial." The original CD sold out almost immediately.
