Tomorrow Never Knows – March 2015
Rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing… gigs, gigs, gigs…
Things are hotting up here in the Ride base-camp as the shows draw ever nearer. In fact it feels like California is racing towards us now as the weeks and days tick by.
Good job then that we’ve been busily rehearsing for the last month or so, knocking everything into shape before we make our final preparations over the next 2 weeks. This is when the team finally comes together and the lights literally get switched on. We’ll be surrounded by roadies again!!
For some of us it’s also been a busy month buying, borrowing and trading new equipment (toys), pictures of which some of you will have seen on Twitter.
What you (hopefully) won’t have seen on Twitter though is the set-list. Yep, we know which songs we’re going to play. Mainly covers of early Floyd and Neil Young songs with a bit of 70s Italian film music thrown in for good measure. You won’t be disappointed.
So, we are almost ready and the excitement is slowly turning into a nervous, hysterical anxiety. This is really going to happen!!
By the way, if you ever find yourselves in Shepherds Bush then do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a Mr Falafel. We officially recommend either the 10 Supreme+ or 11 with extra Halloumi cheese. Stick to the medium size is again our official advice on this.
In addition to the Primavera Barcelona (29th May) and Field Day (7th June) events we’ve been invited to play a number of other festivals over the summer which include the following :-
Coachella California, US – 10th & 17th April
Shaky Knees Atlanta, Georgia, US – 10th May
Primavera Porto, Portugal – 6th June
Best Kept Secret Holland – 19th-21st June
Melt! Germany – 17th-19th July
Fuji Rock Japan – 24th-26th July
OFF Poland – 7th-9th August
Øya Norway – 11th-15th August
Electric Picnic Ireland – 4th-6th September
Details of tickets can be found on www.RideMusic.net We hope to see some of you there.
So, our first show has come and gone already with Andy and Mark performing at the 100 Club in London. The duo played a full acoustic set in aid of the Warchild charity who set up a series of gigs during the week leading up to the Brits raising over £500,000. This is something we were immensely proud to be part of and we hope to continue our relationship with the charity going forward.
Back to the US. We are delighted to share the news that ASH will be supporting us at Terminal 5 in New York. This comes 21 years after we played together in Belfast. We are also excited to confirm that Eagulls will be joining us for all the Californian shows (apart from San Diego) this April.
Monday 13th: The Warfield, San Francisco – tickets
Tuesday 14th: Fox Theater, Pomona – tickets
Thursday 16th: Humphreys Concerts By the Bay, San Diego – tickets
While we’re in LA we’ll be playing a live Morning Becomes Eclectic session on KCRW on April 8th. No chance of sitting by the pool in the sun then, seems it’s all work!!
